Lindisfarne Way is a quiet road of modern detached homes located on the edge of Torquay close to The Willows retail park. This is an extremely handy location being close to the coast and beaches but also for commuting to the surrounding towns. Within minutes you can be on the A380 and Exeter is around 30 minutes’ drive north.
Torquay is one of three towns (known collectively as Torbay) that form The English Riviera situated on the beautiful South Devon coastline. The town has recently benefitted from several redevelopment projects and improved access via the South Devon Highway. Sheltered from the prevailing south-westerly winds the area seems to benefits from its own microclimate with weather that is generally finer than the rest of Devon. It was this climate that began the towns rise in fame and popularity during Victorian times with many of the large villas constructed during that era. The area offers a wonderful quality with nine beaches within the bay, excellent coastal sailing from the marina situated in the busy harbour where numerous events take place throughout the year.
Torquay has a comprehensive range of shopping, and educational facilities including Torquay Boys and Girls Grammar Schools. There are many bars and restaurants surrounding the harbourside, as well as the Princess Theatre.
Transport links are excellent with mainline railway links to London Paddington, and the Cathedral city of Exeter is located within 30 minutes’ drive as is the Maritime Port of Plymouth. The regional airport at Exeter means the whole country and the continent beyond are within easy reach.
Originally built in the 90’s This wonderful detached home has been thoughtfully and significantly extended on both floors during the current owners tenure. The first floor is now a similar size to many four bedroom homes, but having three bedrooms means they are all good sizes, especially the main bedroom. Two bedrooms have en suite shower rooms plus there is a family bathroom. The ground floor has a spacious open plan family living area plus a study which could be an occasional 4th bedroom, and a cloakroom/WC. From the front the property is well spaced from its neighbours. There is driveway parking for two to three cars next to which is the front garden. The rear garden has been landscaped to maximise space and with a westerly orientation gets the best of the afternoon sun.
Stepping through the front door there is space in the hallway for coat and shoe storage as well as access to the cloakroom/WC. Continuing through to the main living room you can appreciate the spacious feel that the open plan layout gives you. However, there is a partial wall between the kitchen and sitting room helping to define each area and give some separation. The sitting room area occupies about two thirds of the room with the kitchen/dining area in the remaining third. The kitchen has a good range of storage units with gloss shaker style fronts and contrasting black granite effect work surfaces. There is an inset stainless steel sink & drainer, inset gas hob with electric oven below, space for a washing machine and space for a freestanding American style fridge/freezer. A door from the kitchen opens to the side of the house where there is a bin store area which leads to the driveway. French doors open up the living space to the garden terrace. There is also a further room on the ground floor that makes a great snug or study, or even an occasional 4th bedroom. A cupboard in this room has space for a drying machine and houses the central heating boiler.
Upstairs are the three double bedrooms. The master bedroom is particularly generous with plenty of space for bedroom furniture and there is a useful built-in cupboard. Windows give a view to the rear over the garden. A door opens to the en suite shower room which is also a good size. Bedroom two was previously the main bedroom and also has an en suite shower room, this room has views to the front. Bedroom three will also take a double bed and has a view to the rear over the garden. Adjacent to this room off the landing is the bathroom with an electric shower over the bath, wash basin and WC.
At the front of the property is brick paved driveway parking for two or three cars as well as an area of garden landscaped with gravel beds, shrubs and bushes. The garden to the rear has a westerly aspect taking in the afternoon sun and has been landscaped over two levels. French doors open from the rear of the house to a porcelain tile paved terrace stretching the length of the rear elevation with plenty of space for garden furniture, making a great entertaining space. The lower area of garden also extends to the south side of the house which is currently used for storage with a shed, but could also be used as further garden space. Steps lead up to a second level retained by a low rendered wall and has been laid with artificial grass for low maintenance. To the boundaries are sleeper walls with wooden fencing over. A gate leads directly back to the driveway.
