Churchill Drive is quiet no-through road situated off Woodway Road in a desirable part of Teignmouth. The town centre and beaches are approximately a 10 minute walk away.
Teignmouth is a coastal town in South Devon located to the North of the mouth of the River Teign, opposite the village of Shaldon to the South, some 12 miles South of the Cathedral City of Exeter. Originally a fishing port, the town became popular in Georgian times following the opening of the South Devon Railway and remains a popular coastal holiday destination today.
There is a long promenade along the seafront with a sandy beach and the pier at the centre. On the other side of the promenade is The Den, a green area where events are held throughout the year. The beach continues around the headland to the Back Beach where there is a good selection of restaurants and pubs. There are a wide variety of independent and chain shops and cafes in the town plus two supermarkets, as well as a theatre and bowling club.
Teignmouth has several primary schools, plus a well-regarded secondary school/Community College. Trinity School is a private school offering both primary and secondary education.
Transport links are good with easy access from the property to Exeter Road or Dawlish Road. Exeter Road links to the A380 dual carriageway leading to Exeter, the M5 and the country beyond. There is a nearby bus stop on Woodway Road with regular buses to the town centre. Teignmouth has a mainline railway station on the Penzance to London Paddington Line. Exeter Airport flies to national and international destinations.
This beautifully presented detached home is privately tucked away on an arm off Churchill Drive which accesses only two other properties with a green area providing a boundary to the main part of the road. The current owners have thoroughly and thoughtfully refurbished and modernised the property with works including, but not limited to, extending into the roof to form two bedrooms and bathroom, new doors and windows throughout, re-wiring and re-plumbing including a new Vaillant boiler/central heating system, opening the kitchen to the dining room, new kitchen, bathrooms, and redecorating throughout. The front and rear gardens have been re-landscaped. The result of this hard work is a superbly presented and modern property that you can simply move straight into without having to worry about having to make further changes.
A pathway leads from the driveway to the front door which opens to an entrance vestibule in turn open to the hallway. Wood effect flooring extends through the hallway into the kitchen/diner, and stairs rise to the first floor. The kitchen diner has a recently fitted modern kitchen with a comprehensive range of gloss cream storage units extending to a peninsular unit and breakfast bar loosely dividing the room. The contemporary wood effect work surfaces have an inset ceramic sink with drainer and inset ceramic hob. There is an integrated eye level double oven and grill as well as an integrated fridge/freezer and dishwasher. The dining area provides space for a family dining table as well as informal seating, and a door opens to a deck at the front of the property with lovely views over the surrounding area to the sea. There are windows to three aspects of this room flooding it with natural light, and a stable style door opens to the rear garden. At the rear of the kitchen is a storage area ideal for coats and shoes. The sitting room is at the front of the property on the other side of the hallway with a large window from which to admire the views and there is a contemporary electric fire fitted to the chimney breast. There are two double bedrooms on the ground floor plus a bathroom with a modern white suite including shower cubicle, vanity unit with wash basin, toilet and heated towel rail. There is also a cloakroom/WC.
To the first floor is an en suite bedroom with a large Velux window opening to the stunning far reaching views over the surrounding area to the coast and sea, as well as over to Shaldon and the surrounding countryside. The en suite has a modern white suite with chrome fittings including a bath, shower cubicle, vanity unit with basin, and toilet. Across the landing is bedroom four which is a single bedroom currently utilised as a dressing room/walk-in wardrobe.
The location of the property on the road affords it a good level of privacy to the front and rear. To the front is a driveway providing parking for two or three cars leading to the detached garage with electric door which has light and power with a separate new consumer unit, and is currently in use as a utility room and store with provision for washing and drying machines, plus a sink. The front garden is laid to lawn with shrub and flower borders and has a fenced deck accessed from the kitchen/diner with room for seating and a small table. A gate between the house and garage leads to the rear garden which, along with the front garden, has recently been re-landscaped. A gravelled pathway extends to a seating area set into the shallow bank retained by wooden sleepers off the rear of the house, with the majority of the remaining garden laid to lawn with sleeper retained shrub and flower borders. The garden is surrounded with wooden fence panels, many of which are fitted with trellis with climbing plants trained across them. At the top of the garden there is a raised, gravelled terrace area with space for garden furniture, and a covered pergola with seating. From here there are views past the house to the sea. A lovely place to sit in the evening enjoying a glass of your favourite tipple.
