Amethyst Drive is situated to the north of New Road in an elevated setting at the top of the hill on which Teignmouth is located, affording wonderful views over the surrounding area to the sea and coast. Teignmouth is a coastal town on the south Devon coast located to the North of the mouth of the River Teign, opposite the village of Shaldon to the South, some 12 miles South of the Cathedral City of Exeter. Originally a fishing port, the town became popular in Georgian times following the opening of the South Devon Railway and remains a popular coastal holiday destination today.

There is a wide promenade along the seafront with a sandy beach and the pier at the centre. On the other side of the promenade is The Den, a green area where events are held throughout the year. The beach continues around the headland to the Back Beach where there is a good selection of restaurants and pubs. There are a wide variety of independent and chain shops and cafes in the town plus two supermarkets, as well as a theatre and bowling club.

Teignmouth has several primary schools, plus a well-regarded secondary school/Community College. Trinity School is a private school offering both primary and secondary education.

Transport links are good with easy access from the property to Exeter Road or Dawlish Road. Exeter Road links to the A380 dual carriageway leading to Exeter, the M5 and the country beyond. There are bus stops on Woodway Road and Dawlish Road. Teignmouth has a mainline railway station on the Penzance to London Paddington Line. Exeter Airport flies to national and international destinations.
