Explore the variety of walks from your doorstep, ranging from coastal paths to cliff top walks, forest trails to designated nature trails. The Jubilee Path, a circular walk across National Trust land to Rockcliffe, being a firm favourite for all. Or, for a more strenuous activity, jump on your bike and head into Dalbeattie Forest with its world class 7Stanes mountain bike trails and MTB skills development area.
A short, 5-minute drive finds you at a couple of local beaches at Rockcliffe and Sandy Hills Bay, where memories are created building sand castles and exploring rock pools. The area offers a stunning coastal drive through interesting sleepy villages, past historical abbeys (Sweetheart Abbey and Dundrennan Abbey) and castles (Threave Castle and Castle Maclennan) and close to various wildlife and nature reserves such as RSPB at Mersehead, Red Kite centre at Loch Ken and the WWT at Caerlaverock (not forgetting its impressive castle!).
