Â
Liverpool is a vibrant, cosmopolitan city with an eclectic abundance of nightlife, parks, gardens, museums and art galleries. It comprises small historic villages crammed with listed buildings, a thriving city centre with new building projects, and a revitalised waterside and cruise terminal.
Â
There’s plenty to love about living and working in Liverpool. There are fantastic shopping facilities, restaurants and bars, incredible theatres, world-class museums and galleries, two iconic football clubs, and our vibrant docks and parks. From the bustling city centre to the bohemian atmosphere of Lark Lane, it has lots to offer everyone.
Â
Unless you’re a Liverpudlian, you probably don’t know that Liverpool has the second-highest number of art galleries, national museums, listed buildings, and listed parks in the UK; only London has more. The former Liverpool Maritime Mercantile City includes the Pier Head, Albert Dock, and William Brown Street.
Â
Area History
Â
Several areas of Liverpool city centre carried World Heritage Site status from 2004 until 2021. In addition, the city’s vast collection of parks and open spaces has been described as the “most important in the country” by England’s Register of Historic Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest.Â
Â
For families, Merseyside is exceptionally well catered for with a variety of schools to choose from. For example, the Liverpool Blue Coat School in Wavertree was founded in 1708 and remained one of the city’s best known educational institutions. It is one of the top-performing schools in the region and has some of the country’s best GCSE and A-level results. Other schools have a long history of excellence, including Liverpool College, which originates from 1840 and Crosby’s St. Mary’s College and Merchant Taylors’ Schools, dating back to 1620. In the West Derby area of the city is St Edward’s College, which is a solid draw to the area and Belvedere Preparatory in Aigburth.
Â
There are three universities in the city – Liverpool Hope University, Liverpool John Moores University and the University of Liverpool. Liverpool enjoys one of the largest student populations in the UK, which brings vibrant nightlife and a great demand for student homes.
Â
Tie all the above together within a wonderfully diverse community means making your home on Merseyside a brilliant choice.Â
